This 80-foot Hilo waterfall drops into a circular pool surrounded by wild tropical plants, and yes — rainbows actually appear in the mist on sunny mornings often enough to earn the name. The main viewing spot is literally a 2-minute walk from the tiny parking lot tucked away in a residential neighborhood (don't worry, you're in the right place when you're driving through houses). There's also an upper falls viewpoint with multiple spots to check out — take the steep steps down to the lower viewing platform for the money shot. Hawaiian legend says the cave behind the falls is home to Hina, goddess of the moon.
💡 Insider Tip
Hit it between 9-10 AM for rainbow magic, and don't skip the steep steps down to the lower platform — that's where the best view is. Very early mornings on weekdays = fewer crowds.
