Get face-to-face with Galapagos sharks (and if you're lucky, tigers) from the safety of an aluminum cage three miles off Oahu's North Shore. The 20-30 minute boat ride from Haleiwa Road launches you into one of those heart-pounding, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that'll have you planning your next trip back.
No diving experience needed — you're snorkeling in a partially submerged cage with handholds and footholds to rest while sharks cruise past at arm's length. The small boat operations keep groups intimate (just 2 groups of 5-6 people), and crews rotate everyone for prime viewing. You'll spend about 30 minutes in the water, which is plenty of time to get your adrenaline fix and some incredible photos.
💡 Insider Tip
Book that 7am departure — calmer seas, better visibility, and sharks show up right away. Take Dramamine even if you're not usually seasick; that open ocean chop hits different. Hit the restroom at Haleiwa Harbor before boarding since there's no bathroom on the boat.
