Hawaii's premier museum on Bernice Street in downtown Honolulu is absolutely worth the splurge, especially if you're traveling with kids. The stunning three-story Hawaiian Hall houses incredible artifacts like royal feather capes made from now-extinct birds and ancient carved ki'i figures. The Science Adventure Center and planetarium shows (add the extra $3!) make it interactive and fun for families. Don't miss the traditional sailing canoe exhibits that played a huge role in reviving Hawaiian culture. Plan for at least 2-3 hours and grab tickets online to avoid the in-person upcharge. The cafe serves surprisingly good coffee and food when you need a break.
💡 Insider Tip
Buy tickets online to avoid the hefty walk-up price increase. The Hawaiian Hall's top floor feather capes are the crown jewel — they literally cannot be replicated since the birds are extinct.
