Baldwin Beach Park

Paia · Maui

The North Shore's go-to beach in Paia, Baldwin is a long stretch of golden sand backed by ironwood trees for natural shade. The western end (Baby Beach) has a shallow, protected lagoon perfect for keiki, while the main beach offers fun bodyboarding waves for experienced riders — this isn't a beginner spot due to strong currents and shore break.

This is where local families gather on weekends. You'll see canoe clubs paddling out, volleyball nets set up, and sometimes even drum circles or weddings happening. The beach has been losing sand to erosion over the years, but it still feels authentically Hawaiian in a way resort beaches never will. Just know it gets windy (typical North Shore weather) and the water stays choppy.

💡 Insider Tip

Get there early for beach parking — spots fill up fast. The far left Baby Beach lagoon is genuinely the best toddler spot on Maui, but always check for Portuguese man o' war after south winds.
