Da Poke Shack

Kona Coast · Big Island

This tiny shack on Ali'i Drive in Kailua-Kona serves what many locals swear is the best poke on the Big Island. The fish is absurdly fresh, and their signature bowls like Pele's Kiss and Wet Hawaiian hit different — the latter with seaweed and kukui nut is deceptively simple but unforgettable. You pick one side (that seaweed salad and kimchi mussels are legit) and two poke varieties over perfectly sticky rice.

Zero pretense, maximum flavor. There are a couple picnic tables out front, but most people grab their bowl and post up across the street by the water. Just know they close when they sell out, which happens often.

💡 Insider Tip

Hit them right at 11 AM opening or risk disappointment — they literally close when sold out, sometimes by noon. The rice alone is worth the trip, and locals rave about those kimchi mussels as a side.
