Ala Moana Beach Park

Honolulu's most convenient beach along Ala Moana Boulevard — where office workers eat lunch, locals do tai chi at dawn, and families claim pavilions for birthday parties. The half-mile crescent of calm, reef-protected water is perfect for kids and floating, though the sand's coarse and you'll definitely want water shoes for the rocky entry. Right across from Ala Moana Center, so grab takeout from the mall and picnic by the water.

Magic Island at the east end is where locals go for sunset — walk out to the point and watch the sky turn pink over Diamond Head and the Waikiki hotel strip. You'll see beautiful people doing "bubbly therapy" and dancing as the sun sets. Weekdays are your friend here: less crowded, better parking, and pure local vibes. The bathrooms get sandy but park workers clean them daily.
