This gorgeous waterfall tucked into Oahu's lush windward mountains is where locals go to escape the crowds. The 3-mile round-trip trail through Maunawili's tropical forest is properly muddy and crosses multiple streams — it's all part of the adventure. You'll gain about 1,000 feet of elevation before reaching the 20-foot waterfall with its crystal-clear swimming hole that's at least 10 feet deep. The jumping spots are obvious and thrilling, and that cold mountain water feels incredible after the hike. Weekends bring local families, but it's never as packed as the famous tourist waterfalls.
💡 Insider Tip
Bring shoes with serious grip — those wet rocks and stream crossings are treacherous in slippers. The main trail access has been closed since 2021, so you'll need to use the longer route via the golf course parking ($15) or find the alternate trailhead.
