Ko Olina Lagoons

Ko Olina · Oahu

Four man-made lagoons carved into Ko Olina's rocky coastline in Kapolei, each one a perfect crescent of calm, protected water. These are hands-down the best family swimming spots on Oahu's west side — no waves, no current, just warm turquoise water where kids can splash safely. The lagoons are completely public even though they're surrounded by fancy resorts, so don't let the Aulani Disney or other hotels intimidate you.

Lagoon 4 (closest to Disney) gets the most crowded, while Lagoon 1 stays quieter. Each lagoon has clean restrooms, outdoor showers, and grassy areas perfect for picnics. You'll find a food cart serving shaved ice and hot food near the restrooms. Bring goggles — the clear water lets you spot sea urchins and small fish easily.

💡 Insider Tip

Lagoon 2 has the best snorkeling for spotting sea turtles near the rock walls. Arrive before 9am for free parking — after that, you'll pay $22 or circle the lots forever looking for a free spot.
