This curved volcanic crater bay along Kalanianaʻole Highway is Oahu's most famous snorkeling spot for good reason — the protected waters are teeming with parrotfish, butterflyfish, and green sea turtles that aren't afraid of humans. You'll spend about 30 minutes getting through check-in and watching the mandatory educational video (which is actually pretty good), then take the tram down to the beach.
The water clarity varies with tides and weather, and it gets crowded fast after opening. The left side near the reef wall has the best fish action, but don't even think about standing on the coral — the knowledgeable staff will call you out. At low tide, navigating around the reef gets trickier.
